ANN NORRIS 1777 Malew
The last will and testament of Anne Norris of the parish of KK Malew being in perfect mind and memory at making hereof. First, she committed her soul to God and her body to Christian burial. 2ndly, she left to Anne Cain daughter of Thomas Cain of the foresaid parish of Malew all her wearing apparel. 3rdly, she left to Thomas Cain of the foresaid parish of Malew her house and garden and she ordered and appointed the said Thomas Cain to pay unto her brother Robert Norris the sum of twelve pounds. 4thly, she left to the above Anne Cain a fledge or bed rug. She left to Isabel Lewney a fledge or a bed rug. Lastly, she left to her brother Robert Norris all the rest of her goods within the house of what kind soever.
Witnesses: Isabel Cain, Isabel Cleator.
At a Chapter Court holden at Castletown June 12th 1777: The Executor is sworn in Court in form of Law and hath given pledges for the payment of debts and legacies namely William Hinley[or Kinley] and Thomas Cubbon of Malew.
NOTES
- Ann was the daughter of Elizabeth (McYlrea) McYlrea & Thomas Norris who married in Malew in 1790
- She did not marry
- Ann received the bulk of her spinster aunt's estate, that of Catherine McYlrea who died 1756
- In turn, the Ann & Thomas Cain to whom Ann Norris left made legacies might be the grand children of Ann's aunt, Ann Cain als McYlrea who died 1771
- There is much about the Malew Mylreas of the 1600s and early 1700s that does not hang together so extreme caution must be exercised
